OscarTango
How has the years operational activity shaped up for everyone? Between two pumps we've clocked 2590 mobilisations to incidents (not including standbys) this year, up over 25 percent from last years 2050. Weather related calls obviously played a part in that, like it has for everyone, but it's been pretty even through the year. December this year was nearly 100 shouts busier than last. I feel as climate changes and cross agency working becomes a thing more and more, the line of "the fire service is getting quieter all the time" doesn't wash anymore. Link to comment
Dangly1
Related to that saw a news article today confirming we had four times as many wildfires as last year which is no surprise. Hopefully next year it will calm down as this year it seemed July especially everyday there was a make-up for grass fires even in the met brigades. Link to comment
BurtMacklin
over 3000 for a PL FRU station in central london and we’re not even the busiest PL FRU station in central london 🤣 Link to comment
Luminoki
Out of 38 stations in West Mids, only 17 broke the 1000 jobs a year barrier, and only one broke 2000. All of which are multi stations. Our busiest standalone single pump station was Erdington with 987 And theres me doing my temp CC at a station that does just under 600 a year Link to comment
TrainHardFightEasy
600 shouts a year- 150 a watch. Hope you have a good book collection & like the gym. Link to comment
Luminoki
Whilst i dont want to derail the thread ive found out its alot different when youre a JO, and im not just talking about jobs 2 Link to comment
Crog
Not including standbys, we had 477 across 2 pumps and command unit. Link to comment

Luminoki
Ladywood 2186 Highgate 1841 Coventry 1581 West Bromwich 1484 Billesley 1460 Taken from the last FOI request. Does not include cover moves or OB jobs. Notable point is three of those stations have the BSV, a car that responds to AFAs during the day 1 Link to comment
Bgjm21
2570 across one aerial rescue pump and one rescue pump. Worth pointing out the rescue pump spent a significant amount of time off the run in the later half of the year. 1 Link to comment
Docw9520
Luminoki , I’ve dug through the system and I am unable to figure out where they’ve got those figures from even including cover moves or standbys Highgate just hit 1551 Busiest station in west mids are below I have removed bsvs and standbys/cover moves West Brom - 1722 (640 (being the first appliance)) Ladywood - 1711 (1109) Ward End - 1627 (953) Aston - 1569 (935) highgate - 1481 (931) Quietest stations in west mids excluding tech rescue stations Tettenhall - 351 Canley - 490 stourbridge - 544 Aldridge - 556 Woodgate Valley - 599 Willenhall - 647 Link to comment
Luminoki
And therein lies the rub as to how incidents are logged. The FOI request ( which if you PM me i can provide ) also doesnt take into account incidents where the attending appliance was stood down prior to arrival And i know theres something up with the figures when Stourbridge isnt in the bottom five 🤣 Any WMFS employee will agree that due to new mobilising policies, crewing of BRVs, knocking trucks off the run and PDAs that the figures fluctuate at an alarming rate 1 Link to comment
Docw9520
Haha no no Stourbridge was an oversight on my part , they had 544 which I will edit on my post now. those figures above do take into account stand downs and OB jobs though as those were most of Tettenhalls jobs. Link to comment
Messyshaw
Like I keep telling Mrs Messy, it's quality not quantity that counts 🥰 😇. Fire station stats are the same. I have been at LFB stations that boast huge call out stats but when you hold a magnifying glass to those figures, the dreaded AFA features quite highly, where primary and secondary fires less so. Other stations have more modest total call figures, but have a larger number of fires within that total. I know what I preferred. One summers night, I did an outduty in charge at LFB's dull Heathrow fire station - nicknamed Death-Row as its so quiet fire wise. Its a 1 pump) station- a known AFA hotspot, but very few fires. Even when they get a job, the BAA fire crew often beat them there. We got turned out to a caravan alight on a neighbouring ground. The excitement en route was palpable - as the guys laughed almost out of control that their Sub O (on leave) would be gutted to have missed it! It was shocking to see such excitement over a bread and butter job and one of the reasons it wasnt the most popular station in the LFB So the devil is in the detail and total numbers can be a false indicator of a 'good' station to be at 1 Link to comment
CaptainFlack
I'll post GMFRS figures below - one issue is that 2 x pump stations have separate figures for both the 1st & 2nd machines. Quite a few one pumpers are busier than some of the stations that have 2 appliances (only 7 stations are 2 x pumps here) and I've not even subtracted False Alarms from the numbers - we all know they don't count. The figure is for times they've gone out the doors. 2 x pump stations are in bold and it's the 2nd pump that's numbered. Top 10 are : Moss Side - 2145 Salford - 2022 Manchester Central - 1983 Phillips Park - 1607 Gorton - 1606 Broughton - 1483 Bolton - 1446 Wigan - 1393 Blackley - 1391 Farnworth - 1393 Salford's 1st turns out as both a pump and ban be requested as an aerial as it's an E-one Scorpion with a boom and a big spike. That turned out 1287 times in 2022. 1 Link to comment
Noddy
Ah Canley…. My first posting! Sent there in 1998 when it was 2 pumps and we were about 1500 calls then. Got bored so moved to Foleshill where 3800 calls was far better 👍 Sorry back on thread. 1 Link to comment
OscarTango
For those GMC and west mids stats, how do they compare to the last few years? Link to comment
Docw9520
West mids from what I remember most were within 100 either way Highgate down slightly from last year others up slightly but all around the same figure Link to comment
C_Iain
My station clocked up 264 incidents over the year, split between 1 WT DC+ pump, 1 RDS pump and 1 water rescue unit. Pretty low numbers, but that doesn’t include standby moves or incidents where the pumps have been stood down on route, only jobs where the crew have been in attendance at the job. Most of the number is from the WT pump as our RDS have pretty poor daytime availability. 1 Link to comment
TrainHardFightEasy
My station 1 pump had 1700 calls last year & on the rds 350. 1 Link to comment

In fact when you take away the usual AFAs in the city centre you have to get down to about say, 4th, for a station that has a noticeable job to call ratio 😉 1 Link to comment
