Fire in Workplace Retail Shop

My work went on fire it was a large retail shop. Smoke damage in corner of warehouse only warehouse area. Was all black towards the shutters. I was put to another shop to work but some staff stayed to clean mess up. I know shops go on fire quite often sometimes they rebuild them but my concern is it says smoke damage can cause cancers and asthma? If cleaned up is the shop as safe as before fire or should I be concerned? I was advised to ask a fire expert. They never replaced the stock in shop simply wiped down. I would have preferred a full refit but maybe they thought smoke damage wasn’t too bad?
