Macky
Where can i find information / guidance which states that once an existing building has been provided with a certificate of fitness there is no need to bring that building to current standards. Macky Link to comment
Messyshaw
That's not entirely true. There is an assumption that the fire safety order will not apply modern standards retrospectively, however the Fire Precautions Act 71- where certificates were bought in- were building focused and the FSO is more people focussed, so some flexibility is required. It can work both ways as the occupancies can be increased and travel distances lengthened using the fire safety order and British Standard 9999. I am not in the UK at present but will revisit this when I get home over the weekend Link to comment
