Popular Post Mx19
Well guys, it’s been a long road but I’m absolutely ecstatic to say I’ve been given a provisional start date with LFB! My journey started about 12 years ago when I was 18, after applying to multiple brigades and falling at the interview hurdle with LFB at 20, I figured it was time to go and get the all elusive “life experience” everyone was talking about. So I packed my bags and moved to Nz for 3 years where I worked as a full time skydiving instructor and became a volunteer on the local rural fire department. After this my skydiving career really took off, pardon the pun, and I moved to Dubai also skydiving. Here I got the opportunity to participate in world records and earned a slot competing on Team GB. As fun as all this was there was something missing, firefighting. It was time to move again. My travels took me to Canada where I earned a position on a Wildfire crew as a Helitack Firefighter with the government of Alberta and my love for firefighting was reignited, again pardon the pun haha! Unfortunately my visa expired and I was forced to move home. This, at the time, was not what I wanted. Fast forward 4 months, I’m absolutely loving being home with friends and family again, I’m sure the weather this summer made the transition easier, and I am about to embark on my dream career! Moral of the story I guess is it’s not worth giving up. If you fall at any of the hurdles have a look at why and what you can do to pass next time. Make the most of the time and enjoy the journey. Also I’d like to give a big shout out to the forum, it helped loads back in the day and really helped me through the process this time, well worth every penny. 8 3 Link to comment

Noddy
Excellent news and congratulations mate. I do admire people with life stories like yours.... I joined the fire service when I was only 20 so haven’t travelled. With 20 years in the job now I’d swap with you if I could and go back to what you were doing! ? 1 1 Link to comment
